Today, I finished my bootleg/remix of PSYQUI - still in my heart, almost 4 months after the initial WIP release. Here is the track
The biggest change between the initial WIP is that it is more sample-centric. The whole bass part in the middle was removed since I suck at choosing synths and creating basslines. Another huge change is that there are also more chops and breaks, etc. I wanted to get more into the “hardcore” aspect of it. In the process I also got into Gross Beat and using channel controls. Probably the most eye-opening thing I learned while doing this was transients. It blows my mind how much it can change the sound and vibe of a break.
Finally, this is my first “big break” experience with Youtube. I’m really happy that people are hearing what I have to put out but it is a bit of pressure. It’s not really on my mind, nor a priority, but I occasionally remember it and get scared for a moment. That feeing will probably wear off. I just appreciate that my music makes people happy and that they like it.
Anyway that is all I have to say.
